Jamma Supergun Build project 2017
Jamma Supergun Project 2017
This summer I'm taking on a personal project of building a supergun on the cheap and with the least amount of work. I would mostly like to play Neo Geo games, so I would need an MVS board. Getting a consolized MVS was a option but they can get expensive. Doing a Jamma supergun build, or piece one out, gives me more options on what I can play.
Like I mentioned earlier, a consolized MVS was an option but decided against it because it would require some soldering and also obtaining a video encoder. I emailed JRok with some questions about their Video Encoder and never got a reply. That helped make up mind on building a consolized MVS and without having their tech support, the build would have been a bit harder. FYI, I have very limited soldering skills and have never taken on a project like this before.
(If anyone wants to attempt to make their own consolized MVS, here's a good article: Jamma Nation X MVS tutorial)
Since I would be playing Neogeo games, I went on eBay to look for an MVS board, and found a nice 1-slot MV-1F that came with 138 in 1 multi cart. I decided on the MV-1F since it has stereo sound and also a socketed bios chip. Having stereo sound is always good and the socketed bios chip means easy swap out for a universe bios. Below are some pics of the board and I will be adding more blog posts as I get other components.
